Overview
A free, open-source AI workspace for people who cannot send confidential work to a cloud tool. VYXO runs models locally with Ollama, so chats and files stay on your Mac. Projects keep their own instructions, edits show up as diffs you approve, and memory only changes when you say so. Download it from the website, then install Ollama to run the models. It is Mac-only for now, on Apple Silicon.
Challenge
Lawyers, developers working on unreleased code, consultants, and researchers cannot casually paste confidential material into a cloud tool. The workspace had to be useful for real project work while keeping every chat and file on the user's own computer.
Approach
Built as a local-first Mac app that runs models through Ollama. Projects keep their own goals and instructions, proposed edits appear as diffs and are written only after the user approves them, and memory only changes when the user says so.
